THE BIGGEST NETWORK OF LAW STUDENTS

The Association of Law Students of the Philippines, Inc. (ALSP), the nation’s biggest network of law students started from around 30 member schools. In 1989, law students started to conduct series of meetings among law students in Manila in order to form a group that will produce both academic and non-academic projects.

ALSP has its first national convention on April 28 and 29, 1990 in the University of the Philippines-Diliman, gathering law students and organizing for the first time as one association. Since then, various conventions were successfully conducted in different parts of the country: Tacloban City, Baguio City, Davao City, Manila, Iloilo City, Cebu City and Gubat, Sorsogon.

Its founding president Atty. Jose Ma. Ochave of the National Capital Region, current Department of Science and Technology – Biosafety Committee member, was followed by law leaders from various parts of the country, who aim to assist bar candidates by organizing national bar exam operations, community building projects and partnerships involving other sectors of the legal field.

Guided by its four fold mission, the association participated on discussions on national issues. In 2010, Salubong blast, the ALSP contributed on the probe committee of the Supreme Court. In 2017 to the present, the association has been concentrating on becoming a legitimately stable, service-oriented, proactive, and socially relevant national network of law students with its current 70-member schools around the nation.
